Now in its 18th season, the ‘Over the Back Fence’ Community Variety Show is a fun event and a community tradition.  The show boasts a talented and creative cast and a host that’s always on his toes (Damon Prestemon).  Each month features Heidi Dybing on the piano, guest musicians, skits, jokes, sound effects, sponsor interviews, cast musical numbers, audience participation, and more.  Local sponsors help support the show in the historic St. Mane Theatre.

CITY WIDE CLEANUP, RUMMAGE SALES AND JUNK REMOVAL
*CLEAN UP – Come to the Community Center if you want to help clean up the City from 8am to Noon.  Garbage bags, gloves and lunch will be provided to those that help the City Clean Up.
* RUMMAGE SALES – We will be having a map of City wide rummage sales. Call 467-3722 or e-mail lanes3@acegroup.cc if you want to be listed. Maps with times listed for each sale will be available as of May 11th at the City Office and Chamber of Commerce.
* JUNK REMOVAL – There will be Garbage Trucks at the Softball Field that will be available from 8am – Noon to take away unwanted junk & appliances.  There will be charges for appliances.  Must have identification of being a Lanesboro resident or business so bring your utility bill.

Art Workshop: "Monster Mash" for kids 8+

Design and sew your own stuffed monster, creature of make-believe animal.  With Textile Center instructor Lynn Cooper.  Use transfer dye crayons to put your esign on to fabric and then learn to sew and stuff your creature.  Whether he has snaggly teeth or long striped horns, we will have a menagerie of unique beasts by the time the day is over.  Each participant can take home their monster.  Ages 8+

"The Story of Music, Stories from Home," a unique work, created by Lauren Pelon & Gary Holthaus, combines music, stories and poems to explore our sense of place, home and community. The program incorporates stories, music, and musical instruments deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of our region, ranging from Native Americans to Scandinavian, German, and more recent settlers from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Holthaus is the author of three books of poetry and several collections of essays, and has been awarded a fellowship in poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts. Pelon has been praised for her soprano voice and her performance on approximately 25 ancient and modern wind, string and free reed instruments. She is a 2010 recipient of a MSAB Artist Initiative Grant Award for her work as a composer.


Presentation begins at 5:30pm followed by a buffet dinner

This summer, Eagle Bluff will be opening the East Tree Tops High Ropes Course to those ages 10 and up.
Take the challenge by yourself, with a friend, or even with your family!

Level of Difficulty: Moderate.
Reservations and Pre-payment required.

June 6  Swamp Walk with Eric Thiss  Discover what lurks in the depths of the Bass Pond. Prepare to be wet and muddy - please wear water shoes and bring dry clothes.

June 20  Lanesboro History Museum and Beyond

July 4  NO Walkabout.  It is the Fourth of July. Take a walk on your own!

July 11  Lanesboro Art Center  Sara Decker leads an art adventure, weaving together more threads of our town.

July 18  Journey to Oz  Visit Frank Wright's garden, a.k.a. Oz. It's 2 miles east of town on the trail, so bring your bike or be ready to hike and learn about the world's biggest rhubarb patch among other amazing things.

July 25  Root River Primer  Blake Coleman instructs us in small boats, moving water, and how to safely enjoy running a river.
