Event Image CNM Speaks: The Sound of Our Community

Live poetry reading comes to the Main Campus Library on Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. with "CNM Speaks: The Sound of Our Community," when two prominent Duke City poets, including Albuquerque's first Poet Laureate, perform. The event includes an open mic session. The event will feature Hakim Bellamy and Andrea J. Serrano. Bellamy is Albuquerque's first Poet Laureate. He's also a two-time National Poetry Slam champion and holds three consecutive collegiate poetry slam titles at the University of New Mexico. Serrano is an Albuquerque-native who has been writing and performing poetry since 1994. Her poetry has been published in various publications and her new book, "My Ranchera Hips Can't Dance Salsa and Other Poems" will be published in fall 2012.
