New Mexico's overdose rate is more than twice the national average, and New Mexico Young people are twice as likely to use heroin than young people in other states. Are you an entrepreneur or interested in becoming one? Do you have a business idea that needs a little kick?

The workshop will be a two-hour experiential learning opportunity for anyone interested in taking their business idea and building a startup and will answer the question:

What does it take to go from an idea to a product/service with customers?


It’s an interactive crash course of the Business Model Canvas methodology, the basic building blocks of all companies, which encapsulates the first part of the Lean Startup methodology.

The workshop will cover:
  • Outlining a Business Hypothesis
  • Creating a Framework
  • Presenting Your Ideas

This course is designed to give participants an opportunity to learn about Sushi. Sushi can be a very healthy part of any person’s diet. Students will learn that sushi does not mean raw fish and that anyone can enjoy sushi. Students will learn the uses of dashi, nori, futomaki, norimake, nigiri sushi, sashimi, as well as other parts of Japanese cuisine. Students will make sushi rolls of their choosing and will leave the class with a better understanding of sushi. Class will be combined theory and full lab participation. Recipes will be provided. Proper culinary lab attire is required, including closed toe gym or walking shoes, hair restraint, and long pants and long sleeves. Register online at www.cnm.edu/wtc

This course is designed for anyone interested in healthy lifestyle changes, as a part of the USDA Grant-Healthy Meals, Fit for Life. This class will discuss food allergies or intolerances to foods including both child and adult allergies, mild to severe food intolerances and allergic reactions, allergens and intolerances to foods including: milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts and a relatively new allergy to red meat (due to a tick bite). Information regarding the differences between intolerances and allergies will be presented as well as oral allergy syndrome, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and dietary strategies to avoid known allergens. Class will be combined theory and full lab participation. Recipes will be provided. During this workshop, attendees will learn how to increase student engagement in their classroom through the use of student-owned mobile devices. Consideration will be given to research tools, polling applications, scavenger hunts, in-class electronic quizzes and exams, document creation, image editing and electronic textbooks.

Attendees may want to bring a mobile device with them to the session to get the student experience. Suggested devices include:

This course is designed to give participants an opportunity to learn about Sushi. Sushi can be a very healthy part of any person’s diet. Students will learn that sushi does not mean raw fish and that anyone can enjoy sushi. Students will learn the uses of dashi, nori, futomaki, norimake, nigiri sushi, sashimi, as well as other parts of Japanese cuisine. Students will make sushi rolls of their choosing and will leave the class with a better understanding of sushi. Class will be combined theory and full lab participation. Recipes will be provided. This class will discuss food allergies or intolerances to foods including both child and adult allergies, mild to severe food intolerances and allergic reactions, allergens and intolerances to foods including: milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts and a relatively new allergy to red meat (due to a tick bite). Information regarding the differences between intolerances and allergies will be presented as well as oral allergy syndrome, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and dietary strategies to avoid known allergens. Class will be combined theory and full lab participation. Recipes will be provided. This course is designed to give participants an opportunity to learn about Sushi. Sushi can be a very healthy part of any person’s diet. Students will learn that sushi does not mean raw fish and that anyone can enjoy sushi. Students will learn the uses of dashi, nori, futomaki, norimake, nigiri sushi, sashimi, as well as other parts of Japanese cuisine. Students will make sushi rolls of their choosing and will leave the class with a better understanding of sushi. Class will be combined theory and full lab participation. Recipes will be provided. This course is designed for anyone interested in healthy lifestyle changes, as a part of the USDA Grant-Healthy Meals, Fit for Life. This class will discuss food allergies or intolerances to foods including both child and adult allergies, mild to severe food intolerances and allergic reactions, allergens and intolerances to foods including: milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts and a relatively new allergy to red meat (due to a tick bite). Information regarding the differences between intolerances and allergies will be presented as well as oral allergy syndrome, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and dietary strategies to avoid known allergens.
