International Year of Astronomy at ACC

Event Description

The Austin Community College District is holding a series of talks in honor of the International Year of Astronomy, which celebrates the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s work on the telescope and other scientific advancements.

All talks this Fall 2009 semester will take place at 7 p.m. at ACC’s Cypress Creek Campus in Cedar Park, Building 1000, Room 1102, on the following Friday dates:
  • September 18
  • October 16
  • November 13
  • December 4
Dr. Jim Heath, ACC professor of astronomy and physics, will trace the development of the Scientific Method through the discoveries and ideas of renowned philosophers. Learn more about other topics covered in these talks...
 
 At 8:30 p.m., a “Star Party” observation session will be held outside in conjunction with Friends of the Austin Planetarium, a non-profit group dedicated to the creation of a planetarium in Austin.
